About Sculptra®
Sculptra® is a unique dermal filler that gives volume to areas that have little to no definition due to aging or illness. Sculptra® injections are meant to address volume loss and gradually restore collagen to facial features. This FDA-approved product is formulated with poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic form of lactic acid.
It is recommended for patients who are seeking a moderate amount of enhancement on the face. In addition to the facial contouring enhancement, Sculptra® is also used on the body in areas of sagging or aged-looking skin. There is a chance that patients may experience mild redness and bruising, which can be reduced by avoiding medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen and vitamin E for one week before treatment. The use of arnica gel may also help some patients avoid bruising. Over time, your body will absorb the poly-L-lactic acid, so follow-up treatments are needed to maintain results.
