Patient’s Perspective on InstaLift

My Experience with Silhouette InstaLift as a Patient

In July, OBI BioAesthetic Institute posted a blog on Silhouette InstaLift, an FDA-cleared state of the art suspension suture which offers the dual benefit of a lift, as well as the stimulation of collagen, for rejuvenated and natural results without surgery.

Well, after watching so many patients get such great results, I wanted to be an InstaLift recipient! I was the ideal candidate – middle age, needing a little lift but not a candidate for a facelift. As great as fillers have been restoring facial volume, fillers simply could not provide the lift I needed at this point without distorting my appearance. So, I wanted to share my experience with InstaLift as a patient. As a provider that implements InstaLift on my patients, it was nice to experience it firsthand.

Gerrie Obi, APRN, performed my InstaLift (thank you Gerrie!). A numbing medication was injected in the areas where the suture would enter and exit the skin; the numbing was easy-breezy. The actual placement of the suspension sutures was not painful at all. Occasionally, I felt a pull or tug while the sutures were being placed, but it was not painful, and the sensation resolved as quickly as it started. When the time came to ‘lift’ my face, at that moment I felt the sensation of transient heat, almost like a spark, but the sensation subsided within seconds. When I looked in the mirror, I had my lift!

Immediately after the treatment, I had very mild bruising where the suture entered my skin. Otherwise, I was a little swollen and no worse for the wear. For the next seven days, I knew I had to be compliant with the post care instructions to maintain my lift. Short term sacrifice, long term goal was my mantra. I reminded myself no big smiles or big laughs, avoid excessive facial movements, avoid talking too much or excessive chewing. That evening, I consumed soft foods without difficulty. I slept on my back, elevated, without any challenges. I progressed as expected with little to no residual evidence of my treatment on my face. The only challenges I encountered were avoiding big facial movements and sleeping on my back (I am a side sleeper). I did not have any pain or discomfort after the treatment, with the exception of an occasional ‘zing’ while chewing. My end result… I LOVE it! InstaLift and Gerrie delivered! I got the natural lift I desired.
