About Kybella®
Kybella® injections are the only FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment used to improve the appearance and profile of undesirable fat below the chin and elsewhere on the body. Kybella® is composed of deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
Benefits of Kybella® Injections
Submental fullness, or “double chin,” is a common yet under-treated facial aesthetic condition. It can affect both men and women and can be influenced by several factors such as aging, genetics and weight gain. A double chin is often resistant to diet and exercise alone, but Kybella® injections are a simple, nonsurgical option.
More Than Just Face Value
Kybella® has traditionally been used in removing the fat beneath your chin. When injected, it destroys fat cells, which then shed naturally from the body. In recent years, the uses for Kybella® have expanded to areas along the jawline, neck, bra line, ankles, butt (banana-roll), and back.
What to Expect with Kybella® Treatments?
Kybella® injections are mostly painless with no downtime. A highly trained nurse practitioner will inject the product directly into the targeted area and then massage it to facilitate the breakdown of fat cells. Kybella® treatment typically takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Results will be noticeable within a few weeks and will continue to improve over time.
Some patients may experience mild tenderness and bruising, which can be reduced by avoiding medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen and vitamin E for one week before treatment. The use of arnica may also help some patients avoid bruising. Based on the area treated, subsequent procedures may be required for optimal results.
