OBI BioAesthetic Institute
At OBI BioAesthetic Institute, the service of IV micronutrient therapy is offered in adjunct to our medical grade supplements by Xymogen. IV micronutrient therapy has grown in its popularity over the past several years. Before proceeding with IV micronutrient therapy, be an informed patient so you can make a safe decision with a trained and certified medical provider.
IV micronutrient therapy allows minerals, vitamins, and nutrients to rapidly enter the bloodstream, bypass the digestive tract and liver then circulate throughout the body. People with food intolerances, allergies or other medical conditions often have considerable intestinal irritation at the cellular level. This means that malabsorption and loss of nutrients occur. As a result, patients manifest with undesired symptoms that can impact their daily quality of life and/or negatively impact the current state of disease and its’ management. In order for nutrients to be pharmacologically active, certain levels of blood and tissue concentrations must be achieved; IV micronutrient therapy is an effective option.
The Providers at OBI consistently practice with the commitment of patient safety first. Therefore, IV micronutrient therapy will only be offered to established patients that have undergone proper medical evaluation and completion of applicable lab work. Furthermore, it is performed when medically indicated and/or on an as-needed basis in the office by a Nurse Practitioner. Regarding the frequency of IV therapy, that will be determined by your medical provider based on your medical history, acuity of symptoms and applicable labs. Our IV therapies are custom compounded for each patient based on the patient’s needs. Our compounding pharmacy partner is North Beaches Pharmacy, located in Jacksonville Beach, a USP 797 pharmacy.
As beneficial as IV micronutrient therapy is, there are risks due to the nature of the treatment – nausea and/or vomiting, hypervolemia, fluid retention, hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia, infection, anaphylaxis, erythrocyte hemolysis or hemorrhagic event. Therefore, it is important the provider implementing the treatment has completed the appropriate training in order to offer the therapy, in conjunction with a full medical evaluation to ensure the therapy is a safe and appropriate medical treatment for you.
IV micronutrient therapy should not be an a la carte item of a menu or website. Rather, it should be a carefully considered option between you and your medical provider.
